Message to the "Progressives"

This diary is in response to all the "reaching out" to former Clinton supporters.

Interesting article I found at Salon.com

This reminded me of this blog:

Beyond the necessity of connecting with rural America, the Obama campaign is hoping to gain ground by winning over suburban independents in battleground states. In Columbus, Ohio, I encountered several white, upper-middle-class swing voters who said they would support Obama. But Terry Daniels, 53, a black man who runs a clothing store in downtown Columbus catering to the city's suburbanites, was skeptical that would happen. "Everyone likes to think they're progressive," Daniels said, "but when it comes down to it, they're not going to vote that way."

Bush Administration tapped for Palin Aides

From NBC/NJ's Matthew Berger
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- The McCain campaign is bringing two Bush administration communication veterans on board to beef up the team that will travel with Palin.

The Palin messaging will be controlled by former Bushites.

I apologize for the short diary, have to cook dinner, but just wanted to get the info up.

Happy Saturday!

Calling all Female Democratic Leadership

Just a quick addendum to an earlier diary.

from New York Times article:

With the McCain-Palin team courting undecided female voters, including some who backed Mrs. Clinton in the Democratic primaries, Obama aides say they are counting on not only Mrs. Clinton but also Democratic female governors to criticize their Alaskan counterpart, Ms. Palin -- and, by extension, Mr. McCain -- including Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas.

from clinton tonight:

The two party conventions showcased vastly different directions for our country. Senator Obama and Senator Biden offered the new ideas and positive change America needs and deserves after eight years of failed Republican leadership. Senator McCain and Governor Palin do not.

After listening to all the speeches this week, I heard nothing that suggests the Republicans are ready to fix the economy for middle class families, provide quality affordable health care for all Americans, guarantee equal pay for equal work for women, restore our nation's leadership in a complex world or tackle the myriad of challenges our country faces. So, to slightly amend my comments from Denver: NO WAY, NO HOW, NO McCAIN-PALIN.

Inherit the Wind: 2008 redux

The real battle has now begun.
The Dark Ages or Enlightenment.
Mysticism or Science.
Regression or Progression.

In this election year, in this country, a fundamentalist is on a presidential ticket.
In this country, founded by those who eschewed religion.
In this country, born out of the age of enlightenment.
Yes, in our country, created by men (and women) of reason, a fundamentalist has asked for our votes.

I visit this blog and read the comments.  I lurk in the background and wonder at the ridiculous requests for civility. At the mock outrage over sexism when noone is saying what is so glaringly obvious.

This woman is a throwback to the Dark Ages.  She is an example of small intellect and should not be allowed to rise to a level of power that can affect the intellectual growth of our nation.

McCain Insults Our Intelligence. Again

When McCain answered the question of which wise ones he would consult during his administration, he cited one John Lewis (D-GA).

I find this disengenuous because John McCain is not close to John Lewis or his policies.  I found an article on Mother Jones discussing this connundrum with comments from Sen. Lewis.

I think McCain is an opportunist lacking in political integrity. He thinks very little of the American public, as evidenced by he and his campaign's blatant disrespect for the intelligence of the electorate.  He will say anything to score points with that segment of the population who thinks he is a Maverick, all while he does everything to ensure that big corporations continue to control the future of our nation's economy and legislation.

McCain thinks he can bullshit his way to the WhiteHouse with jokes, war anecdotes and lies.

It's up to us to say, NOT THIS TIME!

Friday Night Foolishness, Stop the Drama!

With the help of his former rival, will he knock him out? Check it out! I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. It reminded me, once again, how good Barack's chances look for the fall. I especailly like the symbolism of Apollo and Rocky training together, and even Bill has a cameo spot!

Can I get some laughs today?
